GenoMatrix has reached data partnership agreements with multiple horse conservation programs in Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, and other regions, providing genomic data support for 29 native Chinese equine breeds. Cooperation includes genetic diversity baseline establishment, population structure analysis, and conservation priority assessment.
China possesses rich equine genetic resources, including Mongolian horses, Tibetan horses, Kazakh horses, and Dian horses. These breeds have developed unique genetic traits — such as cold tolerance in Mongolian horses and high-altitude adaptation in Tibetan horses. However, many native breeds face population decline and loss of genetic diversity.
GenoMatrix will leverage the EQAI platform's breed frequency database and selection signal analysis capabilities to provide effective population size estimation, inbreeding coefficient monitoring, and breed-specific variant identification.
The company will serve as a data partner, working with government conservation agencies and research institutions to advance the digital protection of China's equine genetic resources.
